Welcome to Functional Health Centers of Prosper, Texas!

In a fast-paced world where we all have seemingly endless professional, social and family obligations, we often default to overdrive, ignoring the small warning signs our bodies send along the way.

The problem is, warning signs like headaches, fatigue, neck pain, even asthma and allergies, and more can be signs of much bigger problems – problems that are not best served covered up by pain relievers and other medications.

This is where Functional Healthcare comes into play. Functional Health Centers of Prosper doesn’t treat the symptom; we dig deeper to diagnose and treat the underlying problem.

What else makes our approach different?

Unlike the acute-care approach of traditional healthcare, which centers around the diagnosis and treatment of trauma or illness that is of short duration and in need of urgent care, Functional Healthcare utilizes a patient-centered approach.

Our patient-centered approach means that we assess each patient holistically, taking the time to learn about histories and looking at the telling interactions among genetic, environmental and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health and complex, chronic disease.

The difference between conditions and symptoms.

Headaches, asthma, allergies, insomnia… these things are all examples of symptoms letting you Every day in America, people take pain relievers and other medications to treat what they deem to be everyday “ailments” – conditions that they just need to live with. It’s not always apparent, however, that these conditions are not often permanent and are instead symptoms indicating deeper problems.

Here are a few symptoms that are often mistaken for permanent conditions. In reality, many of these things can be fixed with Functional Healthcare.

Dr. Brandon Stephans

Dr. Stephans graduated from the prestigious Parker College of Chiropractic, now Parker University, in August of 2005. During his last year of chiropractic school he was one of only twenty students selected for a chiropractic mission trip to Bali, Indonesia. During the month-long trip, Dr. Stephans was afforded the opportunity to provide chiropractic treatment and care to hundreds of patients. Also during his last trimester at Parker, he was selected to be one of only seven students to help start up an exchange program between Parker University and UNEVE, a chiropractic school outside of Mexico City.

In 2009 he completed over 200 hours of continuing education and a national licensing exam required for his title of a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP). This has allowed him to help treat and co-manage injuries from the high school athlete to the professional athletes of Prosper and surrounding areas. A member of the Texas Chiropractic Association and the Prosper Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Stephans continues to stay on the cutting edge of the profession by attending seminars and taking at least 16 hours of continuing education a year.

  • How it changed my life

    Asthma

    Feeling better in 3 month

I started working with Dr. Cohoon 6 months ago. Since then my asthma symptoms have dramatically decreased, my adrenal function is returning to normal, and I beat my best half marathon time by 28 minutes. And not because of improved training – my training efforts for my most recent race were considerably less than my efforts last fall.

  • How it changed my life

    Chronic back pain

    Feeling better in 10 weeks

Dr. Cohoon and Functional Health Centers are genuinely about ME! And not just fixing my pain symptoms, but truly eliminating the cause from my body!
