The story of Functional Health Centers begins with the personal childhood story of our founder, Dr. Chad Cohoon.
As a child, Dr. Cohoon suffered with severe asthma. Even with medications such as albuterol inhalers, allergy shots, steroids and antibiotics, severe attacks would put him in the emergency room two or three times per month. Special diets and complete exercise restriction kept him from enjoying the outdoors with his friends and family.
At age 14, he saw a chiropractor – a doctor that would change his life forever.
The chiropractor showed Dr. Cohoon an x-ray of his spine, pointing out a significant curve between the shoulder blades. As it turns out, the curve represented an imbalance that was putting pressure on the nerves that lead directly to the lungs. Still skeptical, he decided to try the doctor’s recommended treatment.
Within four months, he was completely off all medications. The effect on his life was profound, to say the least. It was then that Dr. Cohoon decided something different should occur with healthcare, and he wanted to be a part of it.
Today, Functional Health Centers is impacting and improving many lives.
Dr. Cohoon has realized his dream with a dedicated group of Functional Health Centers that continues to grow throughout Texas and across the country.
